TEAM

Hi there! I’m Rocío.

Yes, with an “O” at the end—Rocío. I’ve spent most of my life studying and continue to do so, but I don’t want to bore you with that just yet. Instead, let me tell you a little about myself.

I was born in La Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala, and three years ago, I moved to Spain to immerse myself in their particular use of the Spanish language. I started teaching at a very young age, almost by chance. At first, it was a lifeline for me. Later, it became a side activity while I pursued my university career. Today, it has become my passion.

I love walking—ever since I can remember, I’ve enjoyed walking for hours and hours, often covering what feels like endless kilometers. I run, I jump, I fall—but I always get back up. I dance, even to the flicker of Christmas lights, as those who know me like to say. I’ve been a bookworm since I was a child; no wait ever feels long because I always have a book under my arm. Through books, I’ve fallen in love with the beauty that emerges when letters come together.
I’m a very social person; I love having conversations over a good cup of coffee and listening attentively to those who share their stories with me. I learned English on my own and am continuously studying a bit of French and Korean.

Although I adore grammar and teaching it, I’ve learned through experience that the best way to truly learn a language is to live it.
If you’d like to learn with me, it will be my pleasure to guide you on this journey of transforming your thought patterns. Together, we’ll make it both interesting and enjoyable, turning the path into a fun and fulfilling adventure.

The Dream

In 1996, I started teaching at just sixteen years old. In my city, there are many Spanish schools, and most of the teachers are women. As I pursued my professional studies in the humanities, my social awareness began to develop early on. Although teaching is a beautiful job that brings joy and meaningful life experiences, I realized that most schools keep the majority of the income, while the teachers become part of the underemployed population in my beautiful yet complicated Guatemala.

For many years, I have dreamed of creating better opportunities for the community of women who teach Spanish and find themselves trapped in abusive and exploitative work environments.

Now, with more years of life and far more experiences traveling around the world, I’ve realized that the worst idea is not to try at all. Have you ever wondered how much the person who cleans your house gets paid per hour? Why should a teacher, who guides you through such a complex process as acquiring the skills to communicate in a second language, earn less?

To start bringing this dream to life, I want to collaborate with a group of trusted, highly professional colleagues to teach students. Perhaps, together with you, who allow us to guide you in your journey to learning Spanish, we can build a broader opportunity in the near future. This way, new colleagues can join a dignified and fairly paid profession, with access to legal benefits, and we can dream of a more secure and honorable old age.

Guatemala is one of the countries where women are in extremely vulnerable situations, and very few have access to formal education or the chance to escape the gender roles imposed by a deeply patriarchal society. I feel very fortunate to have had access to something that, in other places, isn’t even questioned: learning to read.

Through this dream, I don’t just envision women working in dignified jobs; I also see their daughters completing university education and fighting to close the gap that keeps us in a state of inequality.
To begin this dream, I join hands with people who are deeply committed to their work, with many years of experience and profound knowledge in the art of teaching. So, let’s get to know them a little better.

My Team

My team is made up of highly qualified women in teaching Spanish as a second language, with a solid professional background and an exceptional command of Spanish grammar.

In addition to their academic expertise, they excel in effectively conveying knowledge and skillfully managing course content. Their dedication, warmth, and passion for Guatemalan culture are the cornerstone of this project.

With a courteous, friendly, and patient approach, they create a trusting environment that facilitates both individual and group learning. We firmly believe that a welcoming atmosphere not only strengthens the language acquisition process but also motivates students to reach and even exceed their goals.
