Rocio was able to put me at ease early on in our classes together. She never gave me the impression that I was as hopeless student as I felt I was. She clearly explains more complex grammar lessons, mixes in the appropriate amount of unstructured discussion and incorporates cultural influences and knowledge into the classes seamlessly. I have improved my Spanish significantly studying with Rocio. I have used my Spanish mtn biking in Peru, motorcycling in the Andes in Columbia, visiting Ecuador and scuba diving in Cozumel. I’m confident in my ability to have wide ranging conversations and feel that my traveling experience has been greatly enhanced as a result of Rocio’s instruction. I was very fortunate to meet Rocio, who became my Spanish teacher while wintering in Guatemala back in 2014-2015. Originally, my wife gave me a set of weekly lessons with Rocio for my birthday to support my desire to learn Spanish and for over three years now I've had the great pleasure of learning with her via Skype. I had taken other languages back in school but never Spanish, so I started at ground zero. She is by far one of the best teachers I've ever had for anything. Mostly, we simply talk together, in Spanish, about everything happening in our lives, what's happening in the world around us and what's happened in the past. Rocío is engaging, funny, and intelligent. She is alert to my strengths and weaknesses and tailors personal lessons for me which with experienced insight she adapts to address my specific needs. She answers all questions I can come up with. She provides me with interesting, thoughtful readings. She adjusts her own speech to my growing level of comprehension. I listen and respond. She provides for me that one-on-one total immersive experience so crucial to becoming truly fluent. This is by far the best way to learn a language. And, on top of it all, she has a great sense of humor! Our one hour sessions are always fun but go by way too fast. Rocío is absolutely marvelofus.
