I have been studying with Rocío for almost two years, and I can confidently say that it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Rocío’s patient approach to blending conversation practice with grammar makes each lesson both supportive and engaging. Her individualized lessons have allowed me to progress much faster than I did in group classes. Beyond just teaching the language, our conversations about Spanish and Guatemalan culture have furthered my interest in travel. Thanks to Rocío, I will be traveling to Guatemala this winter, excited to use my much-improved language skills. I highly recommend Rocío to anyone looking to learn or enhance their Spanish.
I started studying Spanish with a lot of trepidation as I knew I did not have any inherent ability and struggled with pronunciation but I also knew traveling as a Spanish speaker would be a much more rewarding experience. Rocio was able to put me at ease early on in our classes together. She never gave me the impression that I was as hopeless student as I felt I was. She clearly explains more complex grammar lessons, mixes in the appropriate amount of unstructured discussion and incorporates cultural influences and knowledge into the classes seamlessly. I have improved my Spanish significantly studying with Rocio. I have used my Spanish mtn biking in Peru, motorcycling in the Andes in Columbia, visiting Ecuador and scuba diving in Cozumel. I’m confident in my ability to have wide ranging conversations and feel that my traveling experience has been greatly enhanced as a result of Rocio’s instruction. Wishing you the best on your journey.
¡Hola! My name is Katie and I’m from the United States. I studied online with Rocio for a few months in 2020 in preparation for a trip to Guatemala. Rocio was great at tailoring our classes to fit my needs. I gained skills in academic Spanish as well as learning coloquial Spanish and cultural insights that would help me during my time in Guatemala. I truly enjoyed each class with Rocio and my Spanish improved greatly through working with her. I highly recommend trying a class with Rocio. ¡Adelante!
I was very fortunate to meet Rocio, who became my Spanish teacher while wintering in Guatemala back in 2014-2015. Rocio is an experienced teacher who moved me from very basic, to fluent in Spanish, by correctly calibrating my needs as a student at every step of the way. The lessons were engaging and her knowledge of Spanish, and world in general, meant that the subject matter of each lesson was always interesting, wide ranging, and constructed in a manner sufficient to stretch and gradually improve my ability. Rocio’s friendly and approachable manner gave me the confidence to experiment with my conversation in a relaxed and informal environment. Altogether, it was a very positive learning experience.
I have studied with Rocio for over 5 years and in that time my Spanish language skills have improved dramatically. My grammar, confidence in speaking and cultural competency improve each lesson. Because she is so well read and has a genuine interest in people, there is always something interesting to talk about. She uses a variety of resources and can tailor the content to your specific interests and needs. I highly recommend improving your Spanish language classes with Rocio!
Originally, my wife gave me a set of weekly lessons with Rocio for my birthday to support my desire to learn Spanish and for over three years now I've had the great pleasure of learning with her via Skype. I had taken other languages back in school but never Spanish, so I started at ground zero. She is by far one of the best teachers I've ever had for anything. Mostly, we simply talk together, in Spanish, about everything happening in our lives, what's happening in the world around us and what's happened in the past. Rocío is engaging, funny, and intelligent. She is alert to my strengths and weaknesses and tailors personal lessons for me which with experienced insight she adapts to address my specific needs. She answers all questions I can come up with. She provides me with interesting, thoughtful readings. She adjusts her own speech to my growing level of comprehension. I listen and respond. She provides for me that one-on-one total immersive experience so crucial to becoming truly fluent. This is by far the best way to learn a language. And, on top of it all, she has a great sense of humor! Our one hour sessions are always fun but go by way too fast. Rocío is absolutely marvelofus.
I look back on my Spanish lessons with Rocio in 2005 with much delight and gratitude. She not only shared her knowledge of Spanish, she also shared her feelings about Guatemala and its history. She was an excellent teacher; whose intellect went far beyond Spanish. Her classes were interesting, tough, and also fun. Being in her class was an unforgettable experience.
We’ve had the pleasure of working with Rocio as our son’s Spanish teacher since he was 3 years old for about 5 years now and we couldn’t be more grateful for her. Teaching young children online is no easy task, but Rocio brings an incredible amount of patience, warmth, and creativity to every session. Her ability to keep our child engaged and progressing in Spanish—even through a screen—is truly impressive. Beyond her teaching skills, Rocio has also been incredibly kind and generous in helping us plan a family trip to Antigua, Guatemala, offering tips and insights that enriched our experience and gave us more opportunities to practice Spanish in a real-world setting. We highly recommend Rocio to any family looking for a skilled, thoughtful, and supportive Spanish teacher.
I highly recommend taking one-on-one Spanish language learning with Rocio and the educational company at enEspañolplease.com. It is a group of hard working teachers, always on time, flexible, and well prepared with the next lesson. The teaching is tailored to your needs and expectations. The online classes are affordable and varied to keep you interested while you are improving. How can it get better than that? I have been studying with Rocio for several years. Having some knowledge of Spanish has really enhanced my travel experiences as I have visited Central America, South America and Spain. Sign up.
